Lets Start with Our BODY
Why Should WE Take Care of Our BODY?
We are all born in one of our own flesh (physical body). And we know that one day we have to pass away, and the body will be left to rot and become soil as it came from dirt. So, why should we take care for our bodies? I mean, no amount of exercise and right eating will keep me alive forever. The only way to live forever is through faith in Jesus, so why worry about our health?
One fact you should remember, is that you don’t own your body. You don’t even own yourself. You are owned by God.
“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit
within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own…”
Your body is a temple for the Holy Spirit. By this means, your body is ultimately a creation of God. Therefore, you have certain responsibility as an obligation to God: taking good care of you body, as the temple, where you serve God.
"Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit
dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy
him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple."
Second fact to keep in mind is that God calls you to use your body as an instrument of righteousness. Meaning, to use it for His purpose and His glory. So, if you weaken your strength by poor health habits, you are less able to go on God’s missions and glofiry Him.
"You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body."
Health is not the most important matter in Christian life, but it is connected with the very most important factor: our respect for God as the Creator and our responsibility to serve others with all our strength.
"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
Its not too late to start a healthy habit: eat healthy, exercise right, get enough sleep, drink a lot of water, and stay away from food, drugs and chemicals that damage the delicate mechanism. Beacause your body as a work of art created by God it deserves very sensitive and intelligent care and respect. And remember as “Christians, we have an all-powerful God who not only has the power to fully heal us from any specific ailment that may strike us, but that He actually does want to heal us many of the time if we properly approach Him in our prayers” (McLartyhttp://www.biblebay.org/article.php?id=64).
Remember that our bodies is the connection between the mind and the soul. Therefore, healthy body means healthy realationship with God, which leads to healthy and well functioning mind. It is all connected, vise versa as well. So make sure to make wise decitions and healthy choices when taking care of your body. Also you may be rewarded and bless by God.
"And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
