"Honor thy father..."Exodus 20:12
So today, let's do something extra for Dad, without him pulling out his wallet to pay for it.
We should treat our fathers the way we treat our mothers on Mother's Day and show them we appreciate them for being there. Yes, you probably tell your father all the time that you love him, but the minds of men work differently. Anyone can say "I love you," but as men, knowing that they are appreciated for a job well done is what really gets them teary-eyes.
APPRECIATION FOR JOB WELL DONE IS WHAT FATHERS WANT TO HEAR
Something that you can do that say that you really care for you dad -- especially you sons out there (but daughters can do it, too) -- is to make sure Dad has been to the doctor for a checkup, including depression screening. This can go a long way toward making sure he's here on Father's Day next year.
Next, if you are making or buying a card, Please don't get a joke card. Research says that, it has been rare that a joke card that makes fun of his abilities is really appreciated.
In addition, or in place of any greeting cart or ft, make a list of the reasons why you appreciate him. Perhaps have it inscribed on a wall plague. Read a list out loud about why you appreciated your father. Maybe, put it in a poem, or write a poem.
Anything that comes from the heart; that is, something that you designed, something you created. It could be a poem, or a collage of family pictures.
Do you have a great photo of you and your dad? Even if it's a baby photo... get a really nice frame, and present it to him.
How about cooking him something he really likes. Men love to eat! There is a saying, "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach. So why not make him breakfast in bed. Or take him out to his favorite restaurant place.
Time: Give your dad the day free of all cares. Let him do whatever he wants to do. Let his wishes come first. While this is not a standard gift it will be loved by the receiver, namely your father. But remember you should still get him another presents to go with this one. The gift of time should never be given alone.

Spend some quality time with him. If he really likes cars or fishing something small for that. Whatever you do so long as it shows some thought he will be happy.
Now for gift ideas that you can purchase for him, if you haven't purchased any of it yet. Before you buy anything, think of your dad -- his favorite things, hobbies, and what he loves. Think of something your father needs but will usually not buy for himself. Record it for yourself
