In a steel pan, put 2 cups of cold water and add green tea. Put it on a stove, and bring it to boil on medium heat. Reduce heat, Add baking soda, add crushed cardamom pieces, cover the saucepan and simmer for 10 minutes. Add 1 cup of cold water. Bring back to boil. Add milk, almonds or pistachio nuts, and sugar. Strain into cups, Serve and Enjoy! Hints:
Baking soda is what actually creates the pink shade in Kashmiri Chai After additional cup of cold water, you should notice the change in color from dark to reddish color. You may add more milk to it till you get the bright pink color. You may bring the tea to boil after adding milk, so it will create foam on top. You may want to add crushed almonds & pista's for garnish and more sugar based on individual taste; For added taste, you can add fresh cream on top as well. Some people add salt in Kashmiri Chai which I thought was a recipe mistake, but I added it today, and I just felt that it tasted really good today. :D This smoothie is a great source of energy, vitamins, minerals and fiber, regardless of how you're feeling, of course :P I think it's perfect for hot summer days (try to semi-freeze it and have it as ice cream!). Place all ingredients into the blender and blend it for 3 minutes so the ice would crush completely and it becomes even consistency. Enjoy! This refreshing beverage is easy made and delicious. I made it this 4th of July for family picnic. Takes about 10 minutes to make.
The idea was inspired by this blog recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/watermelon-lemonade-2/?scale=6&ismetric=0
